All EQUIP Instructors are locally and federally background checked and complete training courses and certifications for student safety.

Ms. Dawn

Dawn George has been homeschooling for over 25 years in addition to founding and running a non-profit foundation for pediatric cancer families. She has been teaching literature and character at EQUIP for 8 years. Her three eldest children are Equip graduates and her youngest is currently in the EQUIP high school program. Dawn is passionate about literature, writing, and teaching the integrity and sufficiency of God's Word.  Dawn authored the EQUIP Bible Character Curriculum used in our Literature classes. Dawn now serves on the administrative team for EQUIP Education’s Online program alongside Ms. Bec.

Ms. Bec

Ms. Bec earned her bachelor’s degree in Education at Nova Southeastern University. She homeschools her three children, which all attend Equip. She is a Florida certified teacher and also enjoys serving the homeschooling community by providing yearly testing and portfolio reviews for student annual evaluations. She loves teaching and considers it a God-given privilege to be able to invest in each student’s life. Prior to having children of her own, Ms. Bec taught in Broward County’s public school system.   Currently,  Ms. Bec teaches the 5th grade courses, as well as Middle School Math and all of the Writing/Grammar courses.  She also serves as an administrator for the program.

Laura Pittman

Laura Pittman completed her student teaching at Miami Country Day School and graduated from Trinity International University with a degree in Education. She has home-educated her two children for 16 years - with her last set to graduate this year. She has taught in homeschool enrichment programs in Miami Shores, Biscayne Park, and Broward County. Laura served 19 years in the Children and Student ministry in Miami. She also served with the North American Mission Board in Creative Arts and Evangelism. She loves camping and spending time with friends and family playing games. She also enjoys the opportunities to story-tell during children's programming at church. Most recently she loves cheering on her son as he participates in the HEAT sports programming.

Johnny Maury

Johnny is a chemical engineer with a Master of Science from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez and has fulfilled all academic requirements towards a Ph.D. at North Carolina State University. He has worked as a graduate research assistant and has experience assisting in teaching college undergraduate and graduate courses for 13 years. He currently works for Creation Studies Institute with the academic programs, leading the Spanish outreach efforts, and teaching high school science in the South Florida Homeschool community. Johnny was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and has been married since 2014. He has a passion to reach English and Spanish-speaking communities with God’s plan of salvation through Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s creation.

Robin Parker

Robin Parker graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance.  She and her husband David have 5 children and have been recently blessed with their 7th grandchild. Robin homeschooled all 5 of their children over 26 years and has seen all their children graduate from college. In 2011, Robin found her niche when she was asked to tutor Challenge B at Classical Conversations. She was privileged to facilitate over 30 students for 3 years discovering a love of learning as well as a delight in seeing the “light bulb” go on when a student finally understood a difficult subject. Robin facilitated Algebra I, Algebra 2, and Part A of Advanced Math as well as Logic, Mock Trial, Latin, Literature, and Science. She has also tutored students in the Math portion of the SAT and help them increase their scores. In 2017, she was added to the BEHC (now called BCEP) program teaching Pre-Algebra, and subsequently added Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Advanced Math, and Logic.  In 2021, Robin joined the Equip program and taught upper-level math and Logic and the following year added Algebra 1. 

Alibrandi Curran

Alibrandi Curran is an Equip alumna. She earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University and went on to complete the ETHOS School of Leadership through Calvary Chapel. Alibrandi began her own music business teaching piano to students of all ages after graduation while completing her post graduate studies. Alibrandi now teaches literature at EQUIP to our 7th-10th graders. Alibrandi brings a unique perspective as a homeschool graduate and is passionate about teaching other homeschool students about the beauty and benefits of this lifestyle of learning. She encourages them to be self organized and disciplined in their studies and personal life. She is a wife and mother and digital creator.

Don McChesney

Don McChesney is the founder of EQUIP Education. When his own homeschooled children reached upper level grades in the early 2000’s he was convicted to create a program of academic excellence and integrity. Don earned his B.A. in Political Science from The American University in 1990 and his M.B.A. from the University of Miami in 1998. Don McChesney continues to serve on the advisory board of EQUIP Education.
